What to include on a transport invoice

A transport invoice should clearly show who provided the service, who is being billed and what transport work was completed. Include your business name and contact details, the customer's information, a unique invoice number, the invoice date and the payment due date.

List each journey or service separately where possible. This could include collection and delivery charges, mileage, waiting time, loading and unloading, additional stops or other agreed transport costs. A clear breakdown makes it easier for the customer to understand how the final amount was calculated.

Include taxes where required and make your payment terms clear. You can also use the notes or terms section for delivery references, purchase order numbers, vehicle or job references, payment instructions or other information connected to the transport service.
