Common invoice items
What to include on a construction invoice
A construction invoice should clearly show who carried out the work, who is being billed and what services or materials were supplied. Include your business name and contact details, the customer's information, a unique invoice number, the invoice date and the date payment is due.
List the work in enough detail for the customer to understand the charges. This can include labour hours, building materials, equipment hire, subcontractor costs and additional work agreed during the project. Larger jobs can also be split into separate project stages or individual areas of work.
Include taxes where required and make your payment terms clear. You can also use the notes or terms section for project references, purchase order numbers, payment instructions or other information related to the job.
